Woodley Concert Band is an NCBF platinum award-winning wind band of around 45 musicians of all ages and occupations who come together to rehearse, perform and socialise.

Membership is open to all and new members are always welcome where there is a suitable vacancy. We recommend that you need to play to Grade 8 standard although no formal qualifications are required – we’re more interested in your playing experience.  

We rehearse in Woodley every Wednesday evening from 7.45pm till 10.00pm throughout the year, with a short break over Christmas.  We perform 3 major indoor concerts each year to audiences of over 300, plus a number of other informal engagements including summer bandstand concerts and Christmas carolling. We have a short break during rehearsals for refreshments and a number of us go to the local pub afterwards for a drink.  We also organise a range of social events throughout the year including band quizzes, meals out and the incredibly prestigious annual WCB ten-pin bowling championship.

We celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2014 with a commission from Philip Sparke, and our 50th in 2024 with a series of special events with our players and friends, old and new. We regularly arrange repertoire workshops with professional conductors to work on more advanced repertoire and have a fun but challenging day.  The band also owns a good selection of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments that we would be able to loan to you if required.
