Well, as usual, WCB has been hard at work since our last update.
The band’s summer season kicked off in fine style with our Summer Charity Concert at Christ Church, Woodley on 6th June. A large audience enjoyed a wide range of popular music including Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, the Toreador Song from Bizet’s Carmen, Beatles classic Ticket to Ride and a spectacular flute solo from Cath Piper in the form of Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You. After a very successful evening, the band were delighted to discover that over £700 had been raised for Christians Against Poverty and the St. James Roof Appeal.
Last weekend, the band were out in force in Wokingham for our first outdoor engagement of the year – Wokingham Sunny Saturdays. Narrowly avoiding the threatening rain, the band attracted a plethora of happy shoppers who enjoyed the usual selection of feel-good music brightening their morning routine. Wokingham was just the start of the band’s outdoor summer season, though, with six more events in our hectic calendar – why not come along to one or two for that ultimate summery feeling!
As if all that wasn’t enough, the band have been enjoying a busy social life too, with both the annual WCB Bowling Championship and Family Barbecue taking place in the last couple of months – it’s been all go!
