Woodley Concert band doesn’t just make music – we also have a thriving social scene taking in everything from meals out to ten pin bowling. A few weeks ago, blessed with clear blue skies, a group from the band (and/or their representatives and associates!) set off to walk between Shiplake and Aston via regular concert venue Henley-on-Thames. It was lovely to have some first timers on the walk and they seemed to enjoy themselves. A relaxed time was had by all as the walkers strolled along the river, stopped to feed the ducks and collected various people en route.
The party crossed the impressive weir at Hambledon before stopping for a picnic lunch / sunbathe (no, really) and doing a further short walk to find well-earned refreshments in the pub, where we also found Annie (those trumpet players turn up everywhere)…
Graham has suggested that the next walk be the morning after the Christmas meal – this might be subject to review but in the meantime, suggestions for routes to try in 2015 are very welcome!
