40th Anniversary Celebration Concert – Tickets on sale this weekend

Wednesday, 17th September 2014

Well, amazingly, there are just under five weeks to go until our Autumn Concert! The band’s summer season flew by with barely a pause for breath (which always makes playing a wind or brass instrument tricky) and we find ourselves only a few rehearsals away from what will surely be the highlight of this year – our 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert!

We’ve pulled out all the stops for this performance with some superb music on offer, including such highlights as West Side Story, James Bond and Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2 (used as the theme to Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut). As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve commissioned a brand new piece of music from well-known popular wind band composer Philip Sparke which WCB will give the world premiere of at this concert – it’s a stirring piece, full of excitement and with a bit of a link to the local area too!

Tickets for this unmissable feast of music, jammed full of toe-tapping tunes, have been on sale to members of our Friends scheme since last week but the box office opens to the general public at 10:00 this Saturday (20th September). Tickets are priced at £12, £10 (concessions) and £5 (under 16’s) and can be obtained by calling the box office on 0870 321 2186.

We’ll see you there!
